We're bringing players together for a four-team, playoff-style hockey tournament, but between rounds we're excited to introduce The Beer League Derby. Eight players will climb aboard repurposed hockey sticks turned into "horses" and race around the rink in full gear in a six-furlong showdown for charity glory.
We love hockey and we love horses, so we created Hockey For Horses to bring the two together in support of retired racehorses. Through hockey, we raise awareness and funds for racehorse aftercare and the programs that help these equine athletes transition into safe, productive second chapters. Most racehorses spend only a small portion of their lives competing on the racetrack, and many need help finding opportunities beyond racing. Hockey For Horses exists to support the organizations and people working every day to give these horses the opportunity for safe, meaningful lives after racing.

New Vocations helps retiring Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorses transition from the racetrack into new homes and new careers through rehabilitation, retraining, and adoption. Since 1992, New Vocations has transitioned more than 10,000 retired Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorses from more than 70 different racetracks into second careers with experienced, educated, and appropriate adopters throughout the country.
